Dear Core, I Owe You an Apology -Love, Your Body
Hey Core, it’s me again—your body.
I know it’s been a while since we last really talked, and I’ve been doing some reflecting… I owe you an apology. I’ve taken you for granted, and I’m finally starting to see how much you’ve done for me—how much you’ve always done for me.
You’ve been trying so hard to support me, but I treated you like a summertime fling—like you were just here to look good in a crop top. I’m sorry. I get it now. You’re so much more than eye candy. You’ve held me up (literally), even when I was out chasing quick fixes—like that back brace I cheated on you with. Ugh, I know. Low blow.
I used to think crunches and ab rollers were enough to keep our relationship healthy. But now I know better. You’re my foundation—my ride or die. Every breath I take, every step I walk, every hill I climb—you’re right there with me. You’ve given me so much: the transverse abdominis, the pelvic floor, the diaphragm, the multifidi… wow, I really did take you for granted.
Also, I want to say—I’m sorry for blaming you when my back hurt. That wasn’t fair. It wasn’t you; it was me. I wasn’t giving you the tools you needed: proper breath, real engagement, the space to do your job. But I’m learning now. I’ve been going to therapy—yep, breathwork, glute strength, core bracing—you name it. I want us to be a team again. I know that if I do my part, we can carry any load together.
I can’t wait to show you what I’ve learned. How we can inhale like we mean it, exhale when life gets heavy, and brace like a big warm hug from the inside out.
This time, I’m all in. No more ghosting you for six months and then asking you to deadlift 200 lbs out of nowhere. No more chasing you just for aesthetic goals. I want to love you fully and intentionally—even through the soreness, even when it’s hard.
Let’s rebuild our foundation. Stronger, steadier, and smarter.
Just you and me. No quick fixes. No band-aids. Just commitment.
So… what do you say?
With love (and better bracing),
Your Body
