Building a Better Model for Health
At Roots Performance & Wellness, we believe healthcare should help people stay strong, healthy, and capable throughout every stage of life. What started as a physical therapy practice is evolving into a community-centered model of healthcare focused on proactive care, movement, performance, recovery, and lifelong wellbeing.
More Than a Physical Therapy Practice
Roots Performance & Wellness was founded on a simple belief…
Healthcare should help people stay healthy—not just treat them when they’re hurt.
Too often, healthcare is reactive. People wait until pain, injury, or illness disrupts their lives before seeking help. At Roots, we believe there is a better way.
Our mission is to help active adults and athletes stay strong, healthy, and capable for life through proactive care, movement optimization, rehabilitation, and performance-focused healthcare.
Today, that begins with physical therapy. Tomorrow, our vision is to build a collaborative healthcare community where movement, wellness, recovery, and performance work together to help people thrive throughout every stage of life.
We believe health is one of life’s greatest assets, and our goal is to empower people with the knowledge, support, and guidance they need to continue doing the things they love for years to come.
What We Believe
We believe movement is medicine.
We believe strength is one of the most important predictors of long-term health.
We believe healthcare should be proactive, not just reactive.
We believe people deserve time, attention, and personalized care.
We believe health is more than being pain-free—it’s about having the freedom to live the life you want.
And we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to stay strong, healthy, and capable for life.
Meet the Founder
Hi, I’m Rachel!
I’m so glad you’re here.
If you’ve spent any time exploring this website, you’ve probably noticed that Roots is about more than physical therapy. While helping people recover from pain and injury is a huge part of what I do, the vision behind Roots has always been much bigger.
At my core, I’m passionate about helping people live active, healthy, fulfilling lives. I believe our bodies were designed to move, explore, play, compete, and experience life fully—and I don’t think pain, injury, or a broken healthcare system should stand in the way of that.
As a physical therapist, I graduate from the University of Maryland - Baltimore and have had the privilege of helping people through some of their most frustrating and challenging seasons. I’ve tailored my education towards sports medicine and orthopedic care (with a dash of pelvic floor physical therapy). Over the years, I’ve realized that healthcare often waits until something goes wrong before stepping in. I wanted to create something different. A place that not only helps people recover, but helps them stay healthy, resilient, and capable for the long haul.
That’s why I started Roots.
While Roots began as a physical therapy practice, my vision has always been bigger. I want to help create a healthcare experience that prioritizes prevention, performance, relationships, and long-term wellbeing—giving people the support they need to stay healthy, active, and capable throughout their lives.
My goal is to create a space where people feel heard, supported, and empowered to take ownership of their health. A place where care is personalized, relationships matter, and the focus is on helping you continue doing the things you love for as long as possible.
When I’m not in the clinic, you’ll usually find me staying active outdoors, spending time with family and friends, exploring new places, or finding ways to challenge myself physically. Those experiences remind me why this work matters so much—because health isn’t the goal itself. Health is what allows us to fully participate in the moments that matter most.
Whether you’re recovering from an injury, chasing a new fitness goal, or simply looking to invest in your long-term health, I’m honored you’re considering Roots as part of your journey.
I can’t wait to meet you.
