Roots is Officially Sprouting 🌱
Hey there, my Rooted in Wellness family — and if you’re new here, welcome! I’m Dr. Rachel Wolinski, a Doctor of Physical Therapy and business owner, here to chat all things wellness, orthopedic conditions, pelvic health, sports, the healthcare system, and everything in between. I’m so happy you’re here!
Okay, big news: Roots Performance & Wellness is officially a registered business in North Carolina! 🎉
I’m writing this post real-time — even though by the time you’re reading it, the website will be live and Roots will officially be legal! I just couldn't wait to share the journey and reflect on everything I’ve learned so far.
Today’s a little different from my usual posts — less science, more heart. And honestly, I'm feeling pretty sappy writing this... maybe it’s the salty ocean breeze and the amazing coffee in my hand after beach yoga and brunch (shoutout to Malama Café and Salty Dog Yoga at Carolina Beach, NC!).
When I first started dreaming up Roots, I was terrified. No sugarcoating it. I had absolutely no clue how to start a business. Past me (only like 4 months ago!) didn’t realize just how much goes into creating a business entity, building a brand, and bringing a vision to life. It’s been a wild mix of excitement, frustration, research rabbit holes, and so much coffee. ☕
In the beginning, it felt a little chaotic — lots of brainstorming, lots of half-finished ideas, lots of "Wait, maybe I should pivot..." moments. But you know what? I learned something huge: Taking imperfect action is better than standing still.
I started soaking up podcasts, books, advice from other PTs and coaches — and slowly, the picture got clearer. I realized that chasing perfection was only slowing me down. Progress, not perfection, became my new motto.
Of course, juggling everything wasn’t easy. Working full-time, launching Roots, training, taking care of my animals, keeping up with friends and family... it felt like I was sprinting through life, gasping for air. 🏃♀️💨
And that's when another big lesson hit me: Rest is non-negotiable.
I realized I can't pour into others — my clients, my loved ones, or even this dream — if my own cup is empty. Roots didn’t just teach me about websites, social media, and sales — it taught me about balance.
I had to get serious about time management — learning to prioritize tasks, optimize my working time, and most importantly, intentionally recharge. And guess what? It worked. I feel more like me. My energy is better. My relationships are deeper. And the care I give my patients is the best it’s ever been.
Some topics I can't wait to dive into with you soon: task prioritization, smart working strategies, and how to make your downtime truly restorative. (Because “Netflix and scroll” doesn’t always cut it, right?) 😉
Roots has given me so many tools — but the biggest gift?
It reminded me to slow down, breathe, and bring my whole self into everything I do.
If you’re reading this, I hope it reminds you that it’s okay to trust the process. It’s okay not to rush. It’s okay not to have it all figured out.
Listen to what lights you up. Protect your energy. Chase the things that make you feel alive.
Thank you — truly — for being here. I’m so grateful you’re part of this journey. I can’t wait to keep growing alongside you. 🌱✨
Stay grounded. Stay rooted.
Lots of love,
Dr. Rachel Wolinski, PT, DPT, Cert. DN
